History

Due to its location along the Delaware River and its close proximity to most of Philadelphia’s manufacturing, Pennsport became home to many factory workers. Generations later, many of these original families have stayed, giving Pennsport a rich and dynamic heritage.

The Community Today

The Pennsport neighborhood is a quaint residential area but still in close proximity to much of Philadelphia’s entertainment and charm. It is a short walk from Queen Village where residents can enjoy a variety of dining, as well as a short distance from East Passyunk, home to some of South Philadelphia’s best bars.

For it’s great location Pennsport remains affordable. Many blocks have not changed from their colonial and Federal-style brick façade, however, in recent years, many homes have been renovated to offer residents modern conveniences. Newer homes come equipped with state-of-the-art kitchens, garages, as well as roof decks and balconies for grand views of Center City Philadelphia.
